  • Awarded one-year Elizabeth Clay Howald Presidential Fellowship in 2011, which started in July 2012. Only two out of ~10,000 OSU graduate students receive this award each year.
  • Awarded the 2nd place for a seminar presented at the Falkenthal Graduate Student Colloquium in the Department of Molecular Genetics at OSU in 2012.
  • American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) Pre-doctoral Travel Award to attend the ASCB Annual Meeting in Denver, CO in 2011 and Valerie was featured in the JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2012 ASCB NEWSLETTER.
