Creation and Evolution: Differing World Views

Links of the Day:

Lecture 8. The Origin of Species. Struggle for existence, survival of the fittest, laws of variation; instinct; hybridism.

This lecture covers chapters 3, 5, 8, & 9 -- a lot of territory and different subjects! I'll start the links with a website giving an overview of an Introduction to evolution theory.

For a look at distyly in plants, check out this website on Gaertnera (Rubiaceae) -- an example of distyly (evolution of dioecy from distylous ancestors -- nice page).

To look at my work on hybrid speciation in Penstemon, check out Hybridization in Penstemon.

"Survival of the Fittest" is a phrase that has a lot of interesting connotations these days. Here are some sites to explore that have usurped this phrase:

Computer Evolution: Survival of the fittest, Intel's theory, A screenplay scenario, The Shotgun Rules (this one is cute, see Section III for the usurpation of "survival of the fittest").
