Down House - The Gardens

These first three pictures show the gardens near the glass house.
This is Darwin's Worm Stone, where he made measurements on the capability of earth worms to move soil. It's located just off the gardens shown above.
Here is the entrance to the sand walk, where Darwin took his daily constitutional. If you watch for it, you can see a pile of flint stones. Darwin kept track of how many laps he made around the walk by knocking off a stone from the pile each time he passed. I wonder if he bent to stack them up again when he finished?
